Title:                Director, QHSE

Summary:

Reporting to the CEO, the Director, QHSE is responsible for designing, implementing, and improving the QHSE programs for Goldwind Americas, ensuring the safety of our employees, customers, and service providers at all facilities and for maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities/Duties include:

  • Function as Goldwind Americas’ management representative with local regulatory agencies and provide notification to Goldwind Americas leadership. Interface with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, etc. to insuring that sites remain compliant with permits, regulations and other legal requirements.
  • Exercise the necessary and judgement to assure that the Goldwind Americas operates safely, with respect to the environment and with the highest quality.
  • Support Goldwind Americas leadership by developing, implementing and auditing QHSE policies and guidelines in line with changes in legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulation, customer requirements and industry best practices.
  • Support Goldwind Americas leadership in the QHSE management systems certification, development, implementation and audits.
  • Analyze personnel and program performance following safety or environmental-related incidents. Determine corrective actions using root cause analysis or similar analytical techniques.
  • Conduct QHSE training and maintain training programs and training logs as required.
  • Maintain internal QHSE audit records and prepare reports for management review.
  • Lead the companywide QHSE Committee.

Core Competencies/Skills/Behaviors:

  • Working knowledge of OSHA/ANSI/NFPA 70E and State regulations regarding QHSE matters, preferably those specific to the power generation industry, preferably the wind industry.
  • Proven ability to plan, develop and implement QHSE policies and programs independently, including but not limited to:
    • LOTO, electrical safety, fall protection, confined space entry, lifting/crane operations/Incident management, SPCC Plans, waste management, Tier II reporting, Permits.
  • Proven ability to support ISO certification and management systems
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work well with minimal oversight.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications such as OSHA 500/Climb Training.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 25% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights greater than 80 meters (250 feet).
  • Must be able to move and manipulate up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a related discipline or comparable work experience.
  • Advanced Safety Certification ex. OHST, CSP, CIH
  • Minimum of ten years of related experience, wind industry experience preferred.
