Summary:

The SCADA Specialist reports into the Engineering team to assist with Goldwind America’s service and engineering capabilities.  The position requires candidates to support installation, commissioning, maintenance, optimize and communicate SCADA systems to internal and external stakeholders.  The candidate will also manage SCADA product optimization and development with the Beijing-based SCADA applications group.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties include:

  • Coordinate with China-based applications team to design and configure identified market specific requirements, innovations, and enhancements to Goldwind’s SCADA system.
  • Write and implement technical specifications for SCADA system to meet the site-specific needs of existing and new customers.  
  • Review technical requirements regarding SCADA system and communication network with potential customers.
  • Support HQ SCADA applications team in the improvement of interfaces and development processes for new versions of the system. Track versions, improvements and project timelines for new versions.
  • Communicate requirements, enhancements and planning for SCADA system with customers to ensure site implementation and reliable performance.
  • Implement Goldwind’s SCADA system to meet the specific needs of North and Latin American markets.
  • Supervise and support installation and commission Goldwind SCADA systems on Goldwind Americas’ projects.
  • Coordinate SCADA designs and interfaces with Goldwind contractors and suppliers. 
  • Maintain SCADA systems on Goldwind operating wind farms subject to conditions of service contracts.  Duties include managing maintenance, configuration and security of system.
  • Manage 3rdparty consulting work that is required for SCADA implementation and maintenance.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to external customers on the capabilities of Goldwind products. 
  • Ensure that SCADA system is compliant with all local FERC, NERC, IEC and US-based Health and Safety regulations for electronic systems and customer requirements.

This position requires international travel to markets in North and Latin American markets as well as China.  Travel will be 15-20% of work.

Required Qualifications

  • A 4-year degree or 2 year certificate from an accredited university in engineering and/or 5 years’ experience working with wind SCADA systems and or SCADA hardware implementation.
  • Knowledge of feedback control and regulation.
  • Knowledge of managed networks and communication links.
  • Exposure to the energy sector is required - specifically substation or generation plants, active power and/or voltage regulation.
  • Must be able to master all aspects of the remote SCADA implementation of a wind/solar project.
  • A process-driven and well-organized individual who communicates effectively.
  • A team player who can manage multiple projects with several different stakeholders.
  • A problem solver who is innovative and completion-driven.
  • Able to travel/work internationally throughout Americas and China.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Mandarin language.
  • Experience with simulation tools.
  • Programming skills (Visual C++, .Net)
  • Electrical/Control Engineering preferred.
