Wind Energy Powers Whirlpool Corporation & Ball Corporation Findlay, Ohio Plant

Mission

Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR), the world's largest global manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances, and Ball Corporation (NYSE: BLL) built on their decades-long commitment to sustainability and overall strategy to reduce the cost of electricity consumption by using wind energy to power their manufacturing facilities located in Findlay, Ohio.

Solution

Goldwind Americas worked with One Energy, an Ohio-based wind energy contractor, to custom design a 7.5 MW net-metered wind energy solution that supplies 3 MW of power to Whirlpool Corporation and an additional 4.5 MW to Ball Corporation under individual 20-year power purchase agreements. The $18 million Findlay Wind Project, owned by One Energy, consists of five GW87 1.5 MW wind turbines that will offset approximately 22% of the Whirlpool Corporation facility’s power demand and 20% of Ball Corporation’s.

In addition, Goldwind continues to provide the project with long-term service maintenance and a warranty package designed to ensure the project operates at high availability levels.

The North Findlay Wind Campus is the first of a much broader Wind For Industry® solutions program that One Energy, Goldwind and other Fortune 500 companies are partnering on to help large-scale electricity consumers achieve their cost saving and sustainability objectives.
